Where 100 KB matters

A 102,400-byte file that sits exactly on the default request-body limit of Express. These are the default limits a file of this size is useful for testing:

SystemLimitNote
Express body parsers100 KB (102,400 bytes) by defaultA request body of exactly this size passes; anything larger returns 413 Payload Too Large.
Gmail message clippingAbout 102 KB of HTMLLonger messages are truncated behind a "view entire message" link.

Use this file for

  • Checking email size handling
  • Checking date and number conversion
  • Verifying formula evaluation and cached results

Testing notes for ODS

  • Dates are real dates in ODS and serial numbers in XLSX, so code written for one format mishandles the other.
  • Rows and cells can be run-length encoded with a "repeated" attribute. A sheet that looks empty may declare a million repeated rows, and a reader that expands them literally runs out of memory.

Questions about this file

Is this file exactly 100 KB?
Yes. It is 102,400 bytes, which is 100 KB in the binary units that operating systems and server limits use (1 KB = 1,024 bytes).
What is inside the 100 KB ODS file?
One sheet with a bold header row and 1,612 rows of fictional orders: text, dates, numbers and an OpenFormula expression in every row. 128 bytes of text in the document description, in meta.xml, bring the file to the exact size.
Do the ODS samples hold the same data as the XLSX samples?
They use the same order records and the same nine columns, so the two formats can be compared directly. A file of a given size holds a different number of rows in each format.
